English and French editions of my book on Charles Frederick Worth
April 24 is the official publication date of both "Charles Frederick Worth, the Englishman Who Invented Parisian Haute Couture" and "Charles Frederick Worth, l'Anglais qui a inventé la haute couture".
Take your pick. Or if you're bilingual buy both and spot the differences. There are differences, of course, between an English book about France and its French translation. The French generally don't need French concepts explained to them. And comparisons to typically British things don't work.
Apart from that, it's the same story of an Englishman and his French wife, both of them outsiders in snobbish 19th century Paris, who created a new industry, haute couture.
